Dr Alam is a fellow and full member of the Royal College of General Practitioner (RACGP). In addition to Dr Alam’s primary medical qualification (MBBS), he also obtained three post-graduate medical degrees namely MTH (Royal Brisbane Hospital, UQ, Australia), FRACGP (RACGP, Australia) and PhD (cardiovascular medicine, Princess Alexandra Hospital, UQ, Australia). He has been working in the NT since 2005. He has adequate knowledge and understanding regarding the NT primary health care system. He has been fortunate enough to work for the mainstream as well as rural and remote locations to work for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander in the Northern Territory. Dr Alam’s current clinical practice involves both Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal populations and his vision to establish the CTG program. Currently Dr Alam works as a Principal GP and Medical Director at the Tiwi Medical Clinic, Tiwi and also DSA GP Clinic, Lyons.
Dr Alam’s other current roles are: a) Mentoring doctors for the purpose of the Fellowship (FRACGP) Exam; b) Supervision overseas trained doctors for the AMC Clinic Exam ; c) RACGP Examiner (Royal Australian College of General Practitioner) for the Medical Graduates want to achieve FRACGP (Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioner) ; d) Mentoring for the John Flynn: Placement Program Welcoming Future doctor to Rural Australia, Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine.; e) Board of Member Representing General Practice on the Scheduled Substances Clinical Advisory Committee (CLAC): S8 (restricted drugs) and Poisons Control.
He published papers on cardiovascular medicine in very recognised, reputable and high quality peer-reviewed medical journals such of Journal of Human Hypertension and Journal of hypertension. After completion of his PhD in medicine, he worked in Germany with a position of Expert in Hypertension and also published a paper with his German colleagues. .
During Dr Alam’s professional careers, he achieved scholarships and also very prestigious fellowship (The Herdsman Post-graduate Medical Fellowship) PhD studies in cardiovascular medicine.

He was awarded and presented with a medal by the Northern Territory Australia Health Workforce and GPNNT, in appreciation of 5 years’ service to the people of the Northern Territory and of the commitment and dedication to improve the health outcomes of all Territorians.
